The Power of Choosing Your Emotion
Have you ever had a frustrating moment ruin your entire day? Maybe you spilled your coffee, received an annoying email, or got stuck in traffic, and suddenly, everything felt harder. Most people think emotions just "happen" to them, but the truth is you have the power to choose how you feel.
Your emotions are energy in motion, and learning how to shift them intentionally can completely transform how you experience life. Instead of feeling controlled by your mood, you get to decide how you want to feel—and take small actions to reinforce that state.
I’m going to show you exactly how to do it!

Why Choosing Your Emotion Matters
Your emotions directly impact:
✅ Your energy levels
✅ Your focus and productivity
✅ The way you show up for yourself and others
When you let frustration, anxiety, or even stress dictate your day, you operate from a place of reaction instead of intention. And…when you consciously choose your emotions, you take control of your energy, decision-making, and the overall experience.
For Example: Imagine waking up feeling tired. You tell yourself, "Ugh, today is going to be awful." That thought instantly drains your energy and impacts your day.
Now imagine waking up and choosing, "I get to create my energy today." This tiny reframe shifts your focus and helps you feel more in control of your emotions and energy.
Here's a 3-Step Process to Shift Your Emotional Energy
Step 1: Identify What You’re Feeling
Before you can shift your emotion, you need to acknowledge it. Ask yourself:
✔️ What am I feeling right now?
✔️ Where do I feel it in my body?
✔️ Is this emotion serving me?
By bringing awareness to your emotions, you stop operating on autopilot and give yourself the power to make a change.
Step 2: Decide How You Want to Feel
Ask yourself: 👉 What emotion would serve me better right now?
👉 How do I want to show up in this moment?
Pro Tip: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, choose calm. If you’re feeling drained, choose energized. If you’re feeling frustrated, choose empowered.
Step 3: Take a Small Action to Reinforce the Shift
Emotions don’t change just by thinking about them—you need to take action. Here are some simple ways to shift your emotional energy:
✅ Breathe deeply for 30 seconds
✅ Listen to uplifting music - What’s your favorite song that instantly changes how you feel?
✅ Move your body (walk, stretch, dance)
✅ Visualize how you want to feel
✅ Say a powerful affirmation, for example: "I am in control of my energy."
Even one small action can shift your emotional state quickly.
The Science: Why This Works
Neuroplasticity: Your brain rewires based on repeated thought patterns. The more you choose to empower emotions, the easier it becomes. Just like building a muscle in the gym, you can rewire the neurons.
Energy Follows Intention: What you focus on expands. Choosing your emotional state directs your energy toward positive outcomes.
You Are in Control!
You are not a victim of your emotions—you are the creator of them. Every day, you get to decide how you want to feel and take small steps to align with that choice.
